Uptime SLAs decoded

An uptime percentage is about whether the door was open, not whether the last invoice survived. 99.9% is roughly forty-three minutes of allowed downtime in a month. Free can still advertise high availability with a standby and still have a non-zero RPO. Paid true active-active is about not losing acknowledged writes, not about a prettier nine. Read the SLA as availability; read RPO as data. We keep those sentences separate on purpose.

We would rather publish the topology (R1 / R2 / R3) than a nine we cannot defend. When the status page ships, it will show what is actually running, not a rounder number from a brochure.
